maychorian: (WTF lunch)
Recipe here: http://maychorian.livejournal.com/272827.html

So yes, I made another batch today, and I took pictures. And I added bacon to this batch, substituting bacon grease for the melted butter and tossing the bits in with the dry ingredients, and they baked up beautifully and they were really, really yummy. Bacon-peanut butter-bran might sound weird, but don't try it till you knock it, that's what I say. Or, wait, reverse that. Yes. Try it.

(This last weekend was the town fair in my little village, and I tried the chocolate-covered bacon at a stand, and it was not tasty. Just weird. But this... Yes. Delicious.)

If you're wondering, it was sixteen ounces of bacon. I cut it up with a shears before frying it, and I fried it up nice and crispy because that's how I like my bacon. It made more than enough grease for the recipe. The extra my family saves for green beans and such.

I don't want to, but I'm considering turning off anonymous comments on this journal cuz I just get SO. MUCH. SPAM. Especially on high-comment posts like the ol' Castiel party page. It's stupid and annoying. Today I deleted three spam comments from that post.

In other news, under the cut is a pic of me from yesterday when I did Zombie Walk in Kendallville, IN. A bunch of people turn up dressed as zombies and lurch up and down Main Street while creepy music plays on the city PA. It's a food drive--to participate you need to bring a non-perishable food item. I took six cans of refried beans, because I'm classy. Tons of fun. I was there with two friends from my weekend RPG group, Tim and Jenny.

After Jenny took the pic of me I poured even more fake blood all over my face and chest, and also smeared it on my hands, so hopefully I looked even grosser on the walk. :D

This is my breakfast:
cut for picture )

I call it a Triple S Shake. The recipe is very simple.

Triple S Shake

Frozen strawberries
Soy milk
Fresh baby spinach
Scoop of unsweetened protein drink
Dribble of vanilla extract

I'm not exact on the proportions, but it's probably about a cup of each S. Put in a food processor or blender and blend until thick and delicious.

I've been eating like this for a couple of weeks now, and I can now get through entire days with no dizziness, nausea, headaches, shaky hands, chest pain, or panic attacks. I also am waking up much easier, sometimes even without an alarm, and don't feel drowsy and cloudy all day. I'm calling that a win.

Yesterday I invented cookies.

Experimental Thumbprint Cookies

1 cup butter
1/2 cup evaporated cane juice
1/3 cup agave nectar
1 cup coconut flour
1 1/3 cup white whole wheat flour
4 eggs
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream butter and sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flours and salt, then stir into sugar mixture. Press dough onto ungreased cookie sheets. (I made it into little balls and pressed them down with my thumb. Each cookie was about the circumference of a quarter.) Bake 8-10 min or until lightly golden on edges. Remove to cool on racks.

This made bunches and bunches of tiny cookies. I can eat a handful at a time with no problems.

Oh, and I got new glasses awhile ago!

The rash on my back still hasn't gone entirely away, even with steroid cream, so I do need to make another appointment with my doctor. I will. But for now I'm feeling much better, so it's going all right. I even have some energy to start working on my Reverse Big Bang story. I'm pretty excited about it.

Hope everything is going well for you guys, too.

May the Fourth Be With You...Always.

This was one of the first pics I uploaded to my photobucket back in the days of dial-up. Yeah. I'm internet-old.

I have some more Obi-Wan in there, too...

And, yep, dusting off the old mood theme. I should use it more often.

ETA: AHAHAHAH, okay, I have to share these... Back in the day, right, I saved lots of pics of Obi-Wan and Ewan on my computer, because that's how you do. My cousin used to collect photos of Jonathan Brandis (Or was it Jonathan Taylor Thomas? Whatever. I didn't pay attention to that stuff.) and tape them all over her wall when we were pre-teens, so whatever, I did the same thing in college. HI LATE BLOOMER ME. But then my brother, Andrew, who is now in college himself (damn his eyes, younker with his life in front of him, mumble grumble), would go into my computer and make his own versions. At least he was smart enough to save them as separate files.

And then I uploaded them to photobucket, too.

Last night my Thursday gaming group did a photo shoot for make-a-cards for a game called ZOMBIES. It was hilarious good times. We went to Wal-Mart and shopped for zombie-killin' stuff, and I made fake blood, and we took many, many awesome and hilarious pictures which I hope I will be able to share with you soon.

But I got home and watched the new Supernatural and was too wired to sleep, so I ended up playing with my webcam. I really enjoyed posing for the camera with my friends, making goofy faces and getting giggles out of them with my expressions, and I just kept doing that for my own amusement. It was great.

I've always been very camera-shy. I've always hated how I look and I hate having to see myself, even in the mirror. (I don't have one in my bedroom and I avoid looking at myself when I use restrooms.) But that's kinda silly, right? I am who I am. If I'm going to try to be more accepting of myself and my body, which I've loathed for many years, I should learn to like what I look like, too.

So this is sort of healthy? Maybe? Anyway, I thought they were kinda funny and I'm willing to share. Thus, in the spirit of emotioneric.com, I present Maychorian Expresses an Emotion.

I've thought about posting something about this for awhile, but never made the time. I feel like I need to say it, though. Maybe I feel like I need to explain myself, which is silly. But also, this is part of the story of my life, and you are my friends, so perhaps you'll find it interesting.

I'm a fat person. )

The soundtrack is spoilery for the story, so I recommend reading that first, or downloading the music without looking at it. ;)

The picspam is of real-life locations from "The Lights of Home." Hover over the images for text, and click for bigger. These were all taken yesterday, June 29, 2009, just before noon. What a gorgeous day.

Also, I just want to note that I did NOT put that bike on top of the grassy hill. It just happened to be there when I wanted to take a pic, and it was so perfect I squeed in real life.

Thanks to everyone who gave me wishes and sent me encouraging messages and bought me virtual gifts! You made turning twenty-six a delightful experience and I can't thank you enough. ♥ I don't even know if I could list them all, I got so many.

I'm not quite where I thought I would be at this point in my life. I didn't think I'd (still, again) be living in my parents' basement, struggling to pay my bills. I always hoped I would be a published novelist by now. At times I even flirted with the idea of possibly being married by now, but that obviously hasn't happened. Still, all around I have a lot of good things in my life, supportive family and wonderful friends, a hobby that brings me endless joy, plenty of talent if only I knew what to do with it. I've got rhythm, I've got music, I've got my SamnDeannImpalanCastiel, who could ask for anything more, right?

Good day with family. Went and saw Up, which is a beautiful movie in every way. It made me cry. Twice. That just doesn't happen. It made me a laugh a lot, too, which is always good. Then we had a great birthday supper with bratwurst (my favorite summer food) and jello cake and frozen custard for dessert, and my family had gotten me a Wii Fit. It's pretty fun so far, though I'm doing my best to ignore the outdated science and the obnoxious comments the game makes. I don't really care if I lose weight, but I DO want to be more fit, so I'm focusing on that. DDR makes me sweat more, though. I'm just sayin'. And it's less frustrating, though maybe I'll get better at the WF with practice.

And I got this awesome, awesome autographed picture of Meeeesha from [livejournal.com profile] mymuseandi, which makes me very, very happy. (Okay, she sent it to me like weeks ago, but I only went and picked it up at the post office this week, so I'm totally counting it as a birthday present.)

1. Ai yai yai...

So Monday night I play D&D with friends, yes? Well, I was sore, what with my elbows, and also my knees and sometimes my back. So on my way out the door I made a quick stop in the bathroom, rummaged around in the family box of medicine and found some painkillers and gulped a couple, then drove down to Josh's house to carpool to Huntington. About halfway there I started feeling kinda groggy, but didn't really think anything of it. I often get sleepy in late afternoon, but I perk up when we start playing. Well, not this time.MOAR. Also homeschool graduation and a new rattie )

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

I had a really hard time picking. I have lots of pretty pics in my photobucket, and I go gloat over them every once in a while. But here's some fanart that never fails to make me feel all warm and happy. Qui-Gon and baby Obi! Awww. Totally not!canon, but I don't care.

Ed: Holy cupcakes, that's huge! Gimme a second, I'll figure out how to make it littler.

Well, I went and upgraded to a Paid Account, and now I need to make/find/request some icons, because I am a geek. I made the above icon, and a Remy one, from internet pics, but for some reason LJ won't let me make one from one of my favorite photos of my own mice:

I also need some good Supernatural, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Battlestar Galactica, and, um, I dunno. All of a sudden my brain doesn't know where to go. I'm probably going to end up ganking a bunch from nomadicwriter, because I really like his/her style (and sense of humor).

Any pointers on where to find some good icons? I did a few google searches, but they all seemed rather haphazard.

A bunch of people at work dressed up for Halloween this year, including me. So here is a picture for you! Aren't you lucky. I'm on the right, in black and red.
