I'm going to try to sum up the other characters' back stories, and maybe our first session. But you need to know that this is hearsay, as I didn't make up these characters but only listened to my friends talking about them, and I'll probably get it wrong. Jill, Gabe, and Josh are all encouraged to respond to this and set me right, or add important details. (Aaron, too, when I start talking about the plot.)

Pineheart: My favorite forest gnome druid started out with a different, Welsh-sounding name which I can't remember, but in her small clan of forest gnomes there were quite a few with the same name, so she earned the nickname of Pineheart. So it was great, then, when she started hanging out with a half-elf named Clovenoak. Many moments of confusion for our wizard friend.

Pineheart's clan lived in the forest at the west end of the valley which will figure greatly in our adventures. Her clan was in contact with halfing traders who would come by periodically, but other than that they had very little contact with the outside world. As Pineheart grew, her friends and cousins developed identities and chosen career paths, while she felt a little at loose ends. Then the leader of her clan told her that she was supposed to travel up the mountain to an isolated grove, where someone was waiting for her.

So she met her mentor, a druid who liked to wildshape into a cat quite often, and learned all the druidy things and how to talk to animals and use weapons and speak the secret language and stuff and I probably got every single detail of this wrong even though I just read Jill's bio last night. Sorry, Jill. So yeah, check out limegreenjillo.livejournal.com and wait for her to post her own version of events, which will be more accurate. And fun to read, because my Padfoot is amazing. And fun.

Man, that was terrible. I couldn't even remember her mentor's name! But all the names were very Welshish, and therefore very cool. Oh, and there was a forest of Caerwynd. Very nice.

Oh, and eventually Pineheart noticed that there was something going wrong in the forest, right? And that's when she got her letter from Phineas.

Dulp: Also has a different real name which is real. Drolf, I believe. But he has a speech impediment. So when we met, Viara asked him what his name was, and he said, "Mah name is . . . Augh! Ah can neveh say it! Jest call me Dulp." So we do.

Dulp's tribe of dwarves lived in a mountain. They were attacked by ogres, I think, and driven out, and Dulp got separated from everyone and lived in the wilderness and became a barbarian to survive. And that's all I know about his backstory.

Gabe, you must tell us more! This is rather thin.

Or was it goblins? Goodness, I'm bad at this.

Kazn: Actually has a rather interesting story, which you would never know at first meeting. He comes off all intellectual and stuff, and a little prissy. Oh! I will tell you stories about Kazn and his prissiness.

Kazn was an orphan in a big city somewhere. He was taken in by a hedge wizard, who became a second father to him. And I'm sure there's much more to the story and JOSH MUST EMAIL ME as well as Jill.

But anyway, Kazn is very intelligent, but he's a socialist at heart, and very outraged at any hint of tyranny. He's a unique character and we all love him. Plus he fireballs stuff for us, so we stay alive. All of this is very important.

First Session: Viara, Kazn and Pineheart met at the cottage of Phineas, who had sent each of us a letter asking us to come. I guess we were all just bored enough to obey. Or something. Anyway, Phineas is this middle-age human guy, and his cottage was all full of books and artifacts and interesting etcetera. We introduced ourselves, and I think Pineheart actually told us her full name, but Viara has forgotten it as well. The (relatively) tall wizard introduced himself as Kazn the Pale.

Phineas said that through his studies and various observations and what have you, he had discovered that there was a grave danger about to be unleashed on the valley. Seems there's this prison at the other end of the valley in which were imprisoned three Ogre Magi Kings. And there was a group of people trying to free them, and if they did all sorts of evil would rain down on the valley. So he wanted us to go and get inside the prison first, and stop all this from happening. We needed to go see a secret monk in a secret monastery, named Ocheero. (The monk, not the monastery.) And there was also a password, which I've forgotten, but Viara remembered quite religiously.

Pineheart asked what this had to do with her forest, because she's a druid and druids protect what's theirs and she really kinda wanted to go back. Actually, she was a little belligerent about it, which is lovable, because--two-foot tall forest gnome! So cute! Actually, Viara was a little intimidated. But Phineas convinced Pineheart that if the evil ogre magi got out, everyone would be in deep trouble, including her forest, which is not actually a one, but I guess counts anyway. (What is this silly "grammar" you speak of? We shall not mention it again.)

Shiftless Viara was immediately up for the adventure, and Kazn is all about the greater good and power to the people and PHENOMENAL ARCANE POWER, so he was happy to go along. And we were off!

Except that we looked around at each other, and realized that we were two spellcasters and a bard. And Pineheart's riding dog, Trogdor. Viara was arguably the best fighter among the three, and she had a frickin' rapier. So basically, monster food.

So we asked Phineas if there might possibly maybe pretty please be a fourth member of the party coming. Someone who could kill things. And he said yes, we would meet him in the village of Treeline, just down the road.

So we went. And that's not even halfway through the first session but I'm going to stop now.

I assure you, I got at least fifty things wrong in this entry. Will edit as corrections come.

(I hope you found this as funny as you were expecting, Josh. I know I was amused by my own holey brain.)
