EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Sorry, just had to get that out there. Hope I didn't break any of your windows.
Anyway. On the lack of hurt!Dean and subsequent comfort from a) Bobby or b) Sam: WE WUZ ROBBED! ::sob sob sob:: I suspected that they would skip over that stuff, but it still makes me sad. However! Potential for emotional trauma later! YAYS. There is every indication that Dean will have later flashes of memory which will require waking from nightmares and possibly hugs from a worried!protective!Sam. This is of the good. I'm sure that there will be a slew of fanfics on the subject and I will have a difficult time weeding out the good ones, but they'll be there. THEY HAVE TO BE. There is no option. Perhaps I will write one, once we're on a little more solid ground, season-wise.
At least we got hugs. And oh, Bobby, how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways. 1. Silver knife. 2. Enormous squeezy hug. 3. Throwing holy water in his face AFTER the enormous squeezy hug. BOOOOOBBBBBYYYYY.
And Sam shaking like that when Dean appeared. ::wibble:: Wasn't quite as satisfying as the reunion with Bobby, but that was probably because of the girl standing in the corner interrupting the vibes of manliness. Though I admit that I giggled when Sam appeared to get her name wrong. Because: "OH, Sam, you didn't! I am shocked." I bought it, though, because I knew he would have been grieving and possibly doing OOC things.
And: "I'm sorry it wasn't me who got you out." Ooooooooohhhhhh, Saaaaaaaammmmmm. LET ME HUG YOU NOW, YOU POOR BABY.
Also. So much squee at the iPod and music. The betrayal on Dean's face. Sam's little-brother shrug. What else did you expect, Dean? Heeeeeeee.
And and and. ANGEL. I started to suspect about halfway through, when the demons were all scared, and saying that Castielle was the end of them. I AM SO FREAKING GLAD THAT THERE ARE FINALLY GOOD SUPERNATURAL THINGS TOO. At least, I really really hope that this is truly good, and not some kind of enormous fake-out in which it will turn out that actually, no, they're all evil after all, cuz this is a horrible depressing universe and EVERYTHING is evil. I HOPE THEY DON'T RUIN THIS. They so easily could. Gah, it makes me really nervous.
But I so loved it in this episode, this reveal, this power and presence. Because in the Bible, messengers of God are scary, scary beings. Blinding white and gold, holy and almost impossible to look at or hear. People are terrified of them, even when they're just popping over to be neighborly and tell you that hey, good news! The guy who's gonna save your world and make everything okay was born in Bethlehem tonight! That's cool, right? We just wanted to let you know.
And my stupid Chronicles of Narnia crossover is not so implausible after all. Because what can get Dean out of Hell relatively intact? GOD, THAT'S WHO.
Oh my word, I hope they don't mess this up. They so easily could.
And the acknowledgment that Dean doesn't believe he deserves to be saved. OH, DEEEAAAANNN. YOU DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Poor, poor Dean. I love him so much.
Ruby's new actress is not as good as the old one. She's bland. Not as creepy and interesting.
But how cool was Sam in the diner. SO COOL. It only makes sense that without Dean to anchor him, he would get more obsessed, and a tool's a tool, right? You don't deny something that could be helpful. Not in the headspace he was at. Sucks that they're still lying to each other, though. SILLY BOYS. YOU SHOULD STOP DOING THAT.
Psychic-girl? I liked that she could make Dean uncomfortable. She gave as good as she got. Until her eyes burned out of her skull, of course.
Possibly Dean vs. Sam in the rest of the season? I am okay with that, because I trust that Dean will be able to save Sam, because of course, that's how it works. And there will be beautiful, beautiful angst.
But oh, lord, I hope they don't ruin this. They so easily could. It could go in so many bad directions.
Right now, though, I'm just really squeeful.
