maychorianBecause this is my blog and I can do what I want, here is an adorable video with some rats fishing ice from a glass. It makes me giggle and awwww.
For the curious, these are dumbo rats, with the low-set ears and droopy eyes. I think I mentioned once before that I would like to have a dumbo rat someday, but I haven't taken any steps to do that yet. My own ratties are the regular kind, and they too are awesome.
Remember how I said that Sebastian is the more nervous one, while Wallace is more eager and friendly? Still true, but it turns out that Sebastian is also a sneaky little beggar, just as clever as you like. Yesterday I gave them a bit of my scrambled egg as a treat. Of course as soon as they smelled it coming, Wallace was clinging to the cage door with all four hands and feet so his splashy white belly was on display, sticking his nose out and saying "Plz plz plz plz plz plz plz" in his ratty way. I opened the door enough to put a nice big chunk of egg in their bowl, trying to direct him to that. But he was still fixated on my other hand, so I let him lick my finger, which was no doubt delicious. And while Wallace was doing his licky best to gather every molecule of egg from my skin, Sebastian just calmly walked behind him and took the very large chunk for himself, then ran away to his hidey hut. LOL! I don't think Wallace even noticed. Sebastian knows the score.
I did give Wallace a piece of his very own, after that. :) That didn't stop him from chasing Sebastian around the cage a little while later when he realized what had happened, though. Oh, Wally, you lose.
