Year-End Memes

First, the "first line of every month" one:
January: I think this might be the last chance I'll have to legitimately use this icon, so enjoy it while you can.
February: I've decided that it would be a good idea to write a bit about this depression thing and how that's going for me.
March: Agh, CHUNKS OF DARK YELLOW SNOT THE CONSISTENCY OF DRIED GLUE.
April: Soooo, I know I haven't been posting much lately. Been feeling pretty icky, what with everything and all.
May: I am soooo tired.
June: Ai yai yai... So Monday night I play D&D with friends, yes? (Ahahaha, this was that post from when I took the wrong medicine and slept through my Monday night fun time. ::facepalm::)
July: Now that Big Bang is finally posted and that load is off my mind and I have a few hours free from my work, I'm, like, bouncing off the metaphorical walls.
August: CLICK ON IT. (Commentfic meme)
September: After I wrote my big bang and made a soundtrack and posted it and everything...I realized that even though the story was obsessed with candy (to the point that one of my favorite scenes was the one where Sam and Dean sit companionably on a hill and eat Dum-Dums), the soundtrack actually didn't have a SINGLE SONG about candy.
October: Welcome back, LJ!
November: Do you want me to do... (Poll)
December: I'm usually shy about putting my name out there in stuff like this, but I totally wouldn't mind some love.
So, judging by this summary, in 2009 I was sick, tired, depressed, needy, and obsessed with my Big Bang and fandom in general. Yeah, that's pretty accurate.
Next, that long meme as seen on
july_july_july and
ultraviolet9a's journals.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Wrote a Big Bang story. Started an LJ community. Claimed unemployment. Was diagnosed with depression by a shrink. Decided that being myself is probably okay, actually. Bought two netbooks. Held a pet rat as he died. (Two of them, actually, at different times.) Quit a job deliberately, not because of going back to school or graduating. Beat a few songs on Expert in Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Grew to fangirl an actor as much as I do a character.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I made a half-assed resolution to comment more, even on things I was kind of embarrassed about reading, like slash and RPF. I've sort of kept it. This year I'll do it more. And try to be more accepting of myself.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A job I love.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 21, the day I got fired. August 27, the day my niece was born.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm proud of my Big Bang story, and
spngenlove.
9. What was your biggest failure?
All the job stuff.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Threw my back out. Still hurts sometimes. No serious illness.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My two (current) pet rats. They give me endless joy.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Misha and the kindness he shows to fans.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
My own, mainly.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Car payments and insurance.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The birth of my niece.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
A lot of the songs on the soundtrack I made for my Big Bang story. Especially Born on the Bayou by CCR and Cops and Robbers by The Hoosiers, I think.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Don't know. Probably sadder. But wiser?
b) thinner or fatter? No idea.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Laying around feeling depressed and useless.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with family here and in Illinois.
21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
No. What glimmers of a crush I used to have for someone disappeared though, I think, which is probably for the best.
22. How many one-night stands?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural. Also loved Psych, Glee, Criminal Minds, Merlin, Flight of the Conchords, Big Bang Theory, Leverage, White Collar, and, to a lesser extent, Dollhouse.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Uther Pendragon. I used to sort of be understanding of him, but after the S2 finale I really kind of hate him. Like a lot. Real people? No one I can think of.
25. What was the best book you read?
I honestly can't remember reading any books this year. It's all been fanfic, fanfic, fanfic. I have no idea which one was my favorite.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
No new discoveries, but I rekindled and strengthened my love of Muse, The Hush Sound, and Great Big Sea.
27. What did you want and get?
A wireless router. A better netbook. Jelly Bellies.
28. What did you want and not get?
A job I love.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
It's between Up and the new Star Trek.
30. What did you do on your birthday?
Went to see Up with my siblings.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A job I... You get the picture.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Lazy and practical..
33. What kept you sane?
Friends irl and in fandom.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Misha Collins.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't know.
36. Who did you miss?
My pets that died last year.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
IRL, a guy who became a part of my Monday night D&D group, John Rogers. He's pretty awesome. In fandomland, I have met many, many new and wonderful peeps this year. Couldn't possibly list them. ♥
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
Body fat is just extra tissue. It doesn't define you. Come to that, you are not defined by any of your issues and faults in any case, but by your talents and passions.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"You Are The Moon" - The Hush Sound
Shadows all around you as you surface from the dark
Emerging from the gentle grip of night's unfolding arms
Darkness, darkness everywhere, do you feel all alone?
The subtle grace of gravity, the heavy weight of stone
You don't see what you possess, a beauty calm and clear
It floods the sky and blurs the darkness like a chandelier
All the light that you possess is skewed by lakes and seas
The shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe
I will bring a mirror, so silver, so exact
So precise and so pristine, a perfect pane of glass
I will set the mirror up to face the blackened sky
You will see your beauty every moment that you rise
