Around this afternoon sometime the shortness of breath went away. I'm not snotting anymore and even my cough has lessened considerably. Of course, this meant that when I went up to the clinic I didn't have any symptoms. (Marked difference--the nurse who took my vitals said, "Wow, you must be feeling awful. Everything is up." Instead of eyeing me askance for being a fat fatty.) The nurse-practioner who examined me said that she couldn't give me a diagnosis, because shortness of breath, cough, and drainage can be from a bunch of different things, and she didn't have the resources to do the tests I needed. Because I finished the antibiotic course a few weeks ago, she said it wasn't pneumonia. She said I should go to an emergency room and get a chest x-ray to make sure it's not a blood clot in my lungs or trouble with my heart, and then they would have to rule out other things, and...

I still don't have insurance. I'm still unemployed and have very little money. I go to the free clinic because that's what I can do.

I don't know. I'm feeling so much better now, it's really kind of weird, and without any real medicinal intervention. The only thing is that when I started feeling so bad last night, I did what I usually do when I start feeling sick--I took garlic supplements. They've helped me a lot in the past, even gotten rid of ear infection and mild colds without any antibiotics. I took two last night, two this morning, and two this afternoon. And now...maybe I'm better? Mom said I should take aspirin every four hours, too.

If it happens again, though, yeah, I'm going to the emergency room.
