I noticed awhile ago, as I was listening to my beloved Jars, that about five songs in a row struck me as being perfectly fitted to this or that Supernatural character. It was a bit eerie, really.
There's "The Widowing Field," which was written for We Were Soldiers, and I'm telling ya, it's about Sam. Sample lyrics:
I'm sure that I could never
make it through the night without you here
the fires in the sky
illuminate the demons closing in
have mercy on my soul
if I am not the last
have mercy on my soul
if I am not the last to go
::wibbles:: OMG, Sam without Dean is the saddest thing EVAR. The song is haunting and gorgeous and it makes my heart beat loud in my chest.
And then. DEAN. The song is called "Dig." And OMG again. Sample lyrics:
i had a big idea
i had a crazy eye
i broke the sacred seal
i told a lazy lie
i've had my conscience bent
i've had my patience tried
i've been up in the desert and
down by the riverside
HOW MANY SONGS DO YOU KNOW THAT TALK ABOUT BREAKING SACRED SEALS? Pretty sure this is the only one. It could also apply to Sam, I think, but then, "The Widowing Field" could also apply to Dean. ::hands:: Listen to it here.
AND ALSO. Castiel. The song is "Revolution." It says things like "I want to love the world but I don't know how" and "You got to begin with who you know you are to be a revolution" and "the time is right to cross that line" and that's what I want, after the s4 finale, I want Castiel being a revolution amongst the crappy, crappy angels of the SPN 'verse. It's upbeat and strong and...sort of badass, for a Christian song.
Also, everything else Jars of Clay ever wrote is good, too, and like 95% applies to Supernatural somehow. Dunno how that works, but I do love it.
