New Fandom (googlies!)
So lately I've been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A lot of it. I got the complete collector's set and all--seven seasons, forty discs, hundreds of vampire slayings and billions of soap opera moments.
I really like it!
Yes, yes, I have heard that it was great up to season five or so and then suddenly started sucking. But I'm just at the start of season three, so it's still good. Very good. Amazingly good.
I continue to be very impressed with Joss Whedon's skills as a writer. Dang, I want to be able to do that. The dialogue is great, the characters are wonderful. The premise is dizzyingly fun and goofy and full of possibility. The plots--meh. Some are better than others. But I don't usually love shows for plot, anyway. I love character, milieu, interaction, development. And these are all pretty spiffy.
So yeah, we'll see when I think it starts sucking. And why. I'll let you know.
I really, really want to read some SG-1/BtVS crossovers now, because Giles and Daniel would so totally be bffs immediately. But all the ones I've found that look interesting (at least so far) are set in Buffy seasons I haven't seen yet. And I'm really enjoying watching the show with practically no prior information, so I don't want to spoil myself. (The only things I really knew going in was the basic premise, the identities of some of the characters, and the fact that it was good.)
SO MUCH FUN.
