Supernatural 4.10

I think I'm going to have to rewatch the episode before I have a really coherent reaction. Right now it's all kind of "Wubba? EEE! No way! Ack!" in my head, along with a few more gibberish exclamations. And some weeping and wailing. No gnashing of teeth, though.

Gotta say, though, how awesome is Show this season? Edge of my seat, man, through the entire forty-two minutes. Well, figuratively, since I was laying on my couch with my laptop on my chest so the screen was only ten inches from my face. But you get what I mean. My heart is still all twisted up inside me, as it was from the moment we found out what Anna was. I was so nervous and scared. And I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN! EVER! I thought maybe Anna would die. I thought maybe Ruby would die. I was pretty sure Sam and Dean would be okay at the end of the episode, at least physically, but that was all I was sure of, and even that was a little in doubt at times.

Isn't Pam awesome? I was so glad to see her back. Love her little vindictive streak against angels, now, and I'm glad that she can rely on her other senses.

But anyway. Yikes.

Just about the worst thing you can do to Dean? Make him hurt other people. (The VERY WORST would be to make him hurt Sam.) Also, I believe that the second the screen turned to black Sammy came around the car and gave his brother a big ol' hug. (What? SPARE ME MY DELUSIONS! I'll believe it if I want to and you can't make me stop.)

And Castiel, oh oh oh. His FACE in that final scene. You know he's thinking about what would happen to him if he fell, too, and wondering if it would be worth it. ::smishes the blue-eyed angel:: He looked like a child. And I wanted to punch Alistair in the FACE when he started hurting him, so I'm glad Dean did it for me.

Godzilla vs. Mothra. Heeeeeeeee. So cool that that was their plan. So cool that they HAD a plan. And mixing up reality and porn. Thank you for the two seconds of levity, Show! They helped, they really did.

Ruby and Alistair? ::shudders:: So awful. I'm glad that was only shown obliquely and Show seemed to be doing its best not to sexualize it, because that would be icky. But of course I'm thinking the whole time, "This is what he did to Dean. For forty years in Hell."

When Anna put her hand over Dean's scarred shoulder? Oh wow. It was like acceptance and comfort and benediction, all in one. And how different were those two sex scenes in the last two episodes? I find that fascinating. Have there been fans who have been waiting to see the Impala's windows fogged up? I bet so. This should satisfy them, I think. I thought the hand streak was a little cheesy, though.

Also, when Anna reached up her hand to Dean's face in that other scene, and he almost flinched away. I think my heart almost broke. I'm so glad he took her words to heart, though, and found the courage to tell Sam what had happened to him.

Uriel is a magnificent bastard. I love it. And apparently Castiel is HIS superior, not the other way around? Curious, very curious. Unexpected.

Did Alistair die in that flair of light?

And what, Anna has her grace back so now the disobedience is forgiven? How does that work? I am skeptical. I'm glad she's not dead, though.

Of course the lore is totally effed, but it's always that way on this show. It should be obvious by now. For one thing, heaven is being in the presence of God, so I'm pretty sure that more than four angels have seen His face. In fact, there are whole subspecies, cherubim, seraphim, who do nothing but fly around the throne and sing praises, and they have extra wings to cover their eyes and feet, and... well, that's neither here nor there. Point is, yeah, if I was an angel in the SPN universe I probably wouldn't like it much, either. And grace as a physical object? Yeah........ No.

I'm almost glad that we're getting a hiatus now. We need time to digest all of this.

Wow, this was more mixed up and incoherent than usual. Well, I did warn you.
