Well, Huh
I appear to have survived unscathed. There was no note from the management or anything, so I'm just going to go ahead and assume that everything is fine. I'm good at assuming, especially when it means that I don't have to worry about something. I'm very bad at worrying, probably because I do it so rarely. It's one thing that I don't really intend to improve with practice, either.
I've decided that I need to write more, even if it's only little blog entries about incidental things in my day. I will consider this a gateway to more writing. I have so many, many projects I need to work on, writing-wise, and I am a terrible procrastinator. Getting a Wii did not help things, but I would have found just as many excuses without it.
List of things I need to finish/start writing:
1) Various legends and incidental world-stuff for Wrath & Gunfire.
2) That dime-novel project I'm working on with a group of RL writer buddies. It will take another post to explain it, but my story will be about pirates. I am excited.
3) Memory's Betrayal -- stupid HC Star Wars fic with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and imprisonmentandtortureandpneumoniaandOMGAMNESIA that I started writing one night because my HC buttons needed pushing and I couldn't find the right fic fast enough (for me it has to be JUST right...perfect amount of H, perfect amount C. I am kinky, but hard to please). So I wrote something that worked for me, and now I should finish it, because apparently people liked it. Maybe I'll even post here on LJ someday.
4) Familiar Strangers -- My Star Wars SG-1 crossover (which also included some OMGimprisonmentandtorture, come to think of it, but offscreen), much more of an action/adventure story, full of Sam goggling over SW technology and Teal'c out-Jediing the Jedi and Daniel and Jack being adorably on each other's wavelengths AT ALL TIMES.... It's really quite fun and I like it. I should keep working on it.
5) Oh, this plot bunny I have based on the episode where Daniel balances an orange on his beer bottle... That could be a quickie, actually. I should just write it.
6) The Unchosen -- My Masssive SW AU with NotJedi!Qui-Gon and Rejected!Obi-Wan and all sorts of angst and HC and my favorite OC ever, Qui-Gon's wife Julune. It's winding down, now, actually, so you think I'd just be able to finish it. But no. I am teh laziest. Has it really been two years since I posted on it? Oh, sadness! I suck.
7) There are other SW WIPs that I don't feel quite as bad about.
8) My failed NaNoWriMo novel. It could still be good, if I could finish it.
9) That novel that's been sitting on my computer since I was eighteen with three chapters to go. But since then my writing style has evolved so very much...I might have to rewrite the thing from the beginning. Sigh.
But yes, I am much too busy becoming enamored with new TV shows and animes and Netflixing them (and now torrenting some of them) and devouring them in a week or two. Most recently I watched the first two seasons of the new Dr. Who and the first season of Torchwood in about three weeks, as well as most of Teen Titans (in season five now) and the first half of the first season of Sailor Moon (fansubbed, the English dub sucks), interspersed with varying Netflixed discs from Gundam Wing, Ah! My Goddess, and the original Dr. Who. Plus I still visit with friends two nights a week (okay, okay, so I actually play D&D with friends two nights a week), and tend to spend at least one day of the weekend with my family. Occasionally I catch an episode of Last Comic Standing or watch Animation Domination on Fox Sunday nights, and, you know, play on my Wii a lot.
It's a wonder I find any time at all to do anything else, really. Dishes? Pssh. Let 'em rot. Clothes? Pssh. I'm sure my coworkers won't notice how much this shirt smells. It's not unwashed. It's recycled from the bottom of the laundry pile. I'm saving energy by not using the washer! Yes, that's it. I'm so ecological.
Gah, I'm a such a stereotypical bachelor geek. Except, you know, for the never-wearing-pants thing.
